Would you like a free drink with that airline ticket?

These days, airlines seem to nickel-and-dime us for everything. Many carriers are now charging for checked luggage and most don’t serve free meals anymore. In fact, my husband and I took a seven-hour flight to Hawai’i for our honeymoon without being offered a bag of peanuts or pretzels. We could, however, purchase the on-board snack box full of junk food for $5.

On the other side of the spectrum, we happened to be flying on Halloween last year and were given a free cocktail! What a nice surprise! I recently came across an article from the Huffington Post by Khadeeja Safdar detailing ten different airlines that offer free drinks. Check it out here. It’s great to get a freebie every now and then!

Imagine my surprise when on a Delta flight from Heathrow to MSP, there was a full meal, later a hot sandwich, a desert treat and free beer and wine! Plus, my first bag was free. It was like I had gone back in time. : )
