Tired of buying $5 coffee at the airport? Cash in on loyalty programs while traveling

We’ve all been there. Our flight is delayed and we need to pass the next three hours. Getting a bite to eat or having a drink is often a great time-wasting activity, but it can be expensive at an airport. To save money, take advantage of loyalty programs, or rewards, offered by many big-name chains. Save your rewards until you’re traveling and avoid paying $5 for a cup of coffee!

What’s the advantage of a loyalty program?

Many chain franchises will reward their customers for loyalty. For example, your favorite coffee house may offer a “buy nine cups, get the tenth free” deal. Big-name restaurants often send out “buy one entree’ get one free” coupons to diners.

How do I sign up for loyalty programs?

Next time you visit a national chain, ask if they offer a rewards program. Some chains will simply give you a punch card that can be validated with every purchase. Other establishments will ask you to sign up online and you’ll receive deals via email.

TGI Friday’s

Remember, you don’t have to be at an airport to take advantage of loyalty programs while traveling. Do your research- will you be visiting a town where you can utilize some of your accumulated rewards?

  1. I always have to budget a few extra dollars for some McDonald’s breakfast, someone who does not have a loyalty program. I don’t know what it is. I don’t like them when I don’t travel. But when I get to the airport in the morning for a trip, I need to stop and get a biscuit, hashbrowns, and soda. Crazy, I know.
